The focus of this session is that a mature approach to life recognises we need to get our relationships with other people right. The content includes a discussion of how we need other people to life life well, but we need to learn healthy interdependence rather than unhealthy independence or dependence. Exploration Exercise 1: This exercise is designed to help people take a self-audit of how much they rely on other people by default. Exercise 2: The intention of this exercise is to explore what might happen if the participant was to change their level of dependence / independence. Tools and resources. Assertiveness. This section on assertiveness is focused on helping gain a healthy balance between respecting self and others. The resources sheet gives an opportunity for the participant to practise the skills needed using their own personal examples. Setting boundaries. This section is based around recognising that we need to intentionally take responsibility for our relationships by setting healthy boundaries and considering how we can do this.
